There is no deadline for applications; you may apply throughout
the period of Japan 2001: May 2001 - March 2002.
 |

To join the Japan 2001 festival, you must apply for authorisation.
You will then be able to take advantage of the support given
to Japan 2001 events, such as coverage on this website, inclusion
in the official programme, and use of the Japan 2001 logo, which
will help the event in its marketing.
The Secretariat will give formal authorisation to proposed events
if they meet the objectives of Japan 2001. Event organisers
will be responsible for obtaining grants or sponsorship from
local or other sources.

Application forms can be obtained from the addresses below,
or completed online by clicking here.
|
The applicant will be informed of the result of their application
within eight weeks of receipt of the application form, and will be
asked to sign a Letter of Agreement. Upon receipt of this letter,
a Letter of Authorisation will be sent out immediately by the Secretariat.
| a. |
The
content of proposed events should be clear and concrete. A preliminary
schedule of dates and venues should be given. An estimate of
expenses and prospective funding would be helpful. At least

| b. |
When
the proposed event involves getting Japanese to travel to the
UK or bringing artefacts and other material from Japan, applicants
should mention, wherever possible, their partners in Japan. |
| c. |
The content of proposed events should meet the broad objectives
of Japan 2001. Events deemed to be solely for the benefit of
individuals and organisations, or to be solely pursuing political
or religious purposes or any activities detrimental to public
peace and social welfare, will not be considered. |
